Joyful Meadow GS Neptune Rain
Sire: Wonderland MM Golden Sage
Dam: Potting Shed BM Sapphire
Joyful Meadow GS Neptune Rain as a yearling first freshener
I had Neptune Rain's name picked out for her before she was born. Potting Shed BM Sapphire's kids typically follow a rock/gemstone theme, and I wanted something unique. I learned that it rains diamonds on Neptune! So instead of naming her Diamond, I named her Neptune Rain. It seems that her name was fate, as she was born a pale cream colour! A little diamond.
Neptune's dam, Sapphire is a lovely petite goat. Although Sapphire is small, her udder doesn't know that! As a second freshener, her udder was very capacious and very well attached. She produced around 2-2.5L as a second freshener. Neptune's sire, Wonderland MM Golden Sage, also has a pedigree full of wonderful goats. His dam is a Permanent Champion who was classified as Excellent 91 and milked around 2.5L of milk during her 4th freshening. Sage's sire is a *S buck and is known to produce daughters with long teats and soft udder texture. Sage himself seems to be passing on longer teats in his daughters and Neptune has long teats for her age. In fact, the babies we've purchased this year have all tried nursing on her, even though she is just about two months older! I'm really happy to have her, and can't wait to see her freshen next year!
